A recent Saturday found us at The Bargain Box Thrift Shop in the basement of the Church of the Good Shepherd where we listened to the volunteers talk about Deacon and volunteer duties. Our favorite part of thrifting at church shops is the conversations in the background. When I checked their website for the address for this blog, I found good and bad news. Bad news - The shop is closing at the end of June, through August, for maintenance issues. Good news – everything in the shop is half price through June. So, head to check it out soon! Yay, it is not a curated shop be sure to look high and low for bargains. It is 4 rooms, the entry had Longaberger, the main room was full of “a treasure trove of wonderful items”, there is a kid’s room and a clothing room. Well worth a stop.
Open every Friday from 10am-3pm, and every Saturday from 10am-1pm.
Located at 95 Woburn Street, Reading, MA, on street parking available. I didn’t notice a bathroom but being a church it’s likely 1 is readily available.
Favorite finds besides Longaberger – a basket of vintage linens, beautiful violet dishware, and a brass cream and sugar set.
Be sure to stop in to take advantage of the ½ off sale. Per their website “a percentage of the proceeds go to the church with the rest going to various local and global charities and outreach projects.”
